Pixie Cut

I love the cute short cuts that are awesome and in style! Mikayla totally rocks this.

On a side note, I have about 3 spots left open before I go on maternity leave, so if you're putting it off any longer, don't! I'll be back March 1st though. And don't worry, I will post pictures of the new baby boy as soon as he arrives.

Love, Katie

Long Pixie, Dry Mohawk Cut

This is such a versatile haircut. I could have played with her hair all night... It can be worn in a dry mohawk, smoothed down, tossled with a little curl... and it will never be the same every day. I loved how it turned out!

We also lightened her hair with a platinum chunk in the bangs and heavy hilights on top. So fun!

Melt - Ombre with Red

I forgot to take a before picture, so I used one from a while ago (sorry- her hair didn't magically grow!)

We covered up her streaks to create a softer look with dark roots and faded into blonde ends. This color turned out awesome!! I only wish I was a better photographer to capture the true colors.

Ombre Color on my sister...

We did a really subtle melting of color on Meg's hair. What we went for was a few face framing hilights with a concentration of blonde on the ends for a sun-bleached, beach babe type of look!

If you ever asked, Why Feathers?

I found this article in my husband's Business Week magazine and I had to post it. It is kinda crazy what becomes SO popular in the fashion world. I don't agree with the article that it is a "dumb fashion accessory"--but it is interesting to know what started the whole fashion craze--we can thank Steven Tyler's stylist. I don't currently do feather extensions, but my friend Danna at Lunatic Fringe in St. George does (and she rocks!), so give her a call for the latest fashion accessory!

The Ombre Effect

This summer's biggest hair trend I've seen is called OMBRE or MELTING.  Its popping up in hair collections everywhere.

"Ombre" literally means gradation in French, which refers to the dark-to-light fade of color that is used in the technique. The term was taken from the fashion world, where the ombre style of diffusing color is used for fabric, and is most often seen in kimonos. Instead of color that starts at the root, darker roots blend into a lightened mid-shaft and end. (www.stylelist.com)

Ombre can be either soft and subtle like Rachel Bilson's natural-looking locks, or play more progressive and dramatic. Either way, the shot of lightness adds a youthful look to hair, as strands naturally lighten under the sun further down the shaft from the root.

The initial process can take longer than a normal color because the bleach/color must be blended perfectly--but the resulting maintenance/touch-ups are much less often compared to to-the-root hilights.

A New Look

Everyone doesn't like getting their picture taken but she was a good sport. I had to get all the angles in this cute transformation! It's a rockin, layered, low-maintenance 'do, cut with a razor. She looks amazing!

cute!

Elaine

Here we did a trim, added a lot of layers & some cute sweepy bangs! Bangs always freak people out, but they are a great way to frame your face and bring attention to your eyes.

Platinum Blonde

This is my sister, she looks cute either way!
